6 June 2005 – Day 8
I’ve been very frustrated. Last night I caught the edge of a high pressure system and have been travelling a about 1 nautical mile per hour in the calm. This morning a breeze has started raising my speed to a not too dramatic 2.2 nautical miles per hour. I need to catch a warm front where I can get the wind back, but it is too far away. It will be another 420 nautical miles before I alter course to the USA near New Foundland, pass the Flemish Cap before Cape Race. All I can do is say a few prayers and hope the wind increases. My weather report projects the calm conditions with no wind to last for few days. I wonder if the other boats have managed to catch the wind? I have to be patient for another 3 or 4 days - bloody hell.
